Developing the Groups Tools Now I'm about halfway done with the "Groups" tools - and I have to say, they're quite powerful in terms of control and features. Group owners will have several options for managing how their group functions - if they want people to be able to join or not, how content is added to the group, and even edit the group's site design.
Here's some information on 'Groups' and how we'll be using them. ========================
But what is a group? A group can be any of the following: - Band, Collective, Recording Label, Genre/Style, Regional, Culture and Society, Friends, Projects and Events, Personal, General
Why create a group? There's many things you can do with a group and even more reasons as to why your should create a group. Maybe your group represents a bunch of friends - or an underground magazine - or a club or venue, whatever!
Groups can be public or private. With private groups, you can share content w/ select people - or with a public group, you can attract people with similar interests.
Membership can be open or closed - Members can always be invitded to a group using the Group tools, but a group owner has the choice if they wish for the membership to either be closed or open.
I'll announce when groups become available - it should be sometime in the next 2 weeks.
