My Lovely Wife Lou is Pregnant
I'm so very pleased to announce that Lovely Wife Lou is pregnant!
After
years of not having any luck naturally, we sought help from a fertility doctor, but this too was not working, at least the procedure and medications weren't. Finally, we had one good egg and were ready to have it fertilized and see if that would work. Not taking any chances, we went with a procedure (ICSI) where they select the specific sperm, and fertilize the egg with it. Days later, they called and it worked! Next, Lou was implanted with the fertilized egg, placing it in the ideal location. Two weeks later, we found out she was pregnant! Today, we are nearing the end of the 1st trimester and doing well. This photo is of the fertilization at 5 cells, and the next 5 are ultrasounds. The fertilization photo is approximately 1hr before it was implanted. Photo here.

Gideon, I'm so happy and hopeful for you and Lou. I'm in town on the 4th of February. Can I drop by and say hello for a bit in the late afternoon?

Wow. That's immense - many congrats to you and lou. Completely life altering. It's a funny coincidence, too, because it never occurred to me to look for you on Flickr, and that led me here on the day that Lisa is trying to go into labour with #2. Synchronicity. My best advice on dealing with a newborn - rent "The Happiest Baby on the Block." It gives you a four step procedure for instantly calming an inconsolably crying newborn. They call it the "Calming Reflex." Worked like a hot damn with our first, Alex. White noise, generally, too. I'd turn the tv to a non-channel and just crank it. Been thinking about you guys a fair bit lately, just thought I'd touch base. Hope to hear from you.
